Overview of role

An experienced, proactive and commercially minded professional is required to lead and deliver the Firm’s Marketing & Business Development (M&BD) initiatives. This role will take ownership of key strategic projects, drive client development activity and support revenue growth across practice areas. The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills, capable of operating in a fast-paced, global environment while providing direction to junior team members.

This role will take ownership of key strategic projects, drive client development activity and support revenue growth across practice areas. The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills, capable of operating in a fast-paced, global environment while providing direction to junior team members.

 

  • Lead business development planning for practice areas, working closely with partners to identify opportunities, develop strategies and drive revenue growth.
  • Support and challenge stakeholders on client targeting, cross-selling and pipeline management.
  • Oversee the preparation, quality and delivery of pitches, proposals and presentations, ensuring a strategic and client-focused approach.
  • Track pipeline activity and analyse win/loss outcomes, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Oversee CRM strategy and usage across practice areas, ensuring data integrity, meaningful reporting and actionable insights.
  • Drive client development initiatives, including key client planning, relationship mapping and engagement strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate client interactions, ensuring post-meeting follow-ups and actions are effectively executed.
  • Lead the development and implementation of marketing campaigns aligned with firm priorities.
  • Ensure all marketing materials, communications and digital content are on-brand and consistent with firm guidelines.
  • Oversee website content, including practice pages, lawyer bios and campaign-driven updates.
  • Deliver high-quality market, client and competitor analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities, providing actionable insight to partners and leadership.
  • Lead the planning and execution of client events, seminars and marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Evaluate ROI and effectiveness of events and campaigns, making recommendations for future activity.
  • Represent the M&BD function at key events where appropriate.
  • Manage marketing budgets in collaboration with senior stakeholders, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, including negotiation and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial and procurement processes.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience (minimum of 5 years) in a marketing and/or business development role within a professional services environment (legal/professional services preferred).
  • Educated to degree level, preferably in marketing, business or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated experience managing pitches, campaigns and client development initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in reporting and using data to drive decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM systems essential.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendors is highly desirable.
