The Role
Walkers Professional Services is recruiting for a part-qualified accountant/accounting technician with experience in financial services to join our rapidly expanding accounting team in Dublin. This is a fulltime and permanent role with hybrid working arrnagements.
The successful candidate will work four days per week in our Dublin office and one day working from home during their probation period. This will reduce to three days wfo and two days wfh post-probation completion and will be dependent upon the successful candidate progressing as expected and demonstrating their ability to work independently.
Skills & Competencies
- Accounting Technician/Accounts Assistant.
- A good understanding of basic accounting debits & credits, with experience at posting entries to an accounting general ledger.
- Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant Trainee Accountant role with a recognised accounting firm or Financial Services company, or they should have an Accounting Technician qualification.
- CLO experience would be a significant advantage.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel. A very strong familiarity with Excel formulae such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and SUMIF is essential.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A desire to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment where delivery of a professional service to both clients and other counterparties is of key importance.
- Attention to detail, resourcefulness, strong communication and organisational skills are essential.
- An enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn will contribute to the success of the candidate.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of a busy, client-facing, professionally qualified team working under
the direction of the Head of Accounting and Managing Director. Their main responsibilities will include:
- Analyse and reconcile large volumes of spreadsheet data from the collateral manager prior to recording the transactions on the accounting system.
- Preparation of the trial balance for a portfolio of Irish, Jersey & Cayman incorporated CLO SPVs, in line with transactional and statutory deadlines.
- Completion of routine monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of CLO SPVs.
- Preparation and filing of quarterly regulatory returns to Central Bank of Ireland on a timely basis.
- Once appropriate training has been provided, assist with the preparation of iXBRL tagged financial statements.
- In time, train and mentor less experienced members of the team on elements of the above workload.
