The Role

Walkers is currently seeking to recruit a qualified lawyer and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with two to five years post qualification experience to join their highly regarded Tax team in Dublin.

The Walkers Tax team advises domestic and international corporations, asset managers and financial institutions on a wide range of financial and commercial transactions, including debt capital markets, general

corporate tax, investment funds, aircraft leasing, mergers and acquisitions, cross border tax planning and real estate work.

 

In this role you will work closely with tax partners and of counsel advising on a diverse range of tax technical matters, including as part of a multi-disciplinary transactional team working collaboratively with fee earners across practice groups.  The role will include ongoing training, mentoring and support.

Key focus areas

Irish tax issues relevant to all manner of financial and corporate/commercial transactions, including:

 

    • Financial services and structured finance transactions, including, in particular, debt issuance programmes, and securitisations including ABS, CMBS, CLOs, RMBS, synthetic securitisations
    • Banking and corporate lending and receivables financing.
    • Aircraft finance and leasing.
    • Investment funds work, including fund structuring and the investment undertaking tax and IREF regimes. 
    • Corporate restructurings and mergers and acquisitions.
    • Loan portfolio sales and acquisitions. 
    • Real estate acquisitions and disposals, including real estate finance.
    • Private equity and inward investment. 

The person

We are seeking qualified lawyers with 2-5 years post qualification experience who have passed or are in the process of completing their training to be a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and have experience working in tax in a recognised legal or accounting practice. Additionally, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong tax technical skills and a passion for learning
  • Interest in domestic, EU and international tax developments – including ATAD, DAC6, Pillar Two etc.
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • A calm and measured approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work on own but also as part of a team
  • An ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Previous experience in the area of financial services tax is an advantage but is not a necessity.
