Overview of role
Remote - Ireland
The Research & Business Insights Team provides succinct, insightful and rigorous analysis to enhance Walkers Professional Services' competitive position and achieve its strategic growth objectives.
This varied role has a global remit supporting the development of the business across all our international offices. This is a dynamic environment and provides a great opportunity for an independent worker looking to marry research analysis with commercial requirements.
The Business Researcher will report directly to the WPS Research Manager, via equipment supplied by the firm
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Market & Industry analysis – competitors, jurisdictions, sectors, individuals, targets. Output provided in a range of powerful and actionable formats.
- Business Development targeting & preparation. Data driven, organised and thorough approach to identifying new and existing possibilities. Contact lists, one-page prep sheets, follow-up value adds.
- Internal Data review – large amounts of data and/or disorganised information from a range of sources, streamlined into standardised and fresh insights, presented in a meaningful format
- Research for and drafting of compelling thought leadership pieces relating to our markets, sectors and services.
- Collects, organises and analyses data sets and translates these into easy to consume charts, information and insights.
- Ability to translate technical documentation into effective communications.
- Create arresting and insightful visuals off the back of thorough research to effectively communicate findings.
- Other tasks and special projects as required by the business from time to time
The Business Researcher will be required to work independently within the Research & Business Insights Team, and take ownership of a wide range of projects. With the support of the Research Manager, they will build working relationships with a wide group of stakeholders, including the CEO, Directors and other members of the WPS team worldwide
Education, Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Expertise
• Strong commercial sense with the ability to link research and business development activity to tangible outcomes
• Creative with the ability to develop ideas to present information in an engaging and clear manner
• Analytical expertise to segment markets, spot trends and provide actionable insights
• A confident Excel user, proficient in PowerPoint and Word
• Experience in creating Power BI dashboards and reports would be extremely beneficial
• Experience with visual applications like Tableau, or analytical tools such as R or Python, would be useful

Educational / Professional Qualifications Required
• A professional qualification or a relevant degree in Business, Information Management or Marketing
Experience Required
• Experience in the financial services or legal sectors and/or the offshore markets a plus

• Ability to work with a remote team and to share workloads when required is necessary. Comfortable with a work from home environment
