THE ROLE
Walkers is currently seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Knowledge Lawyer to join our highly regarded Asset Management and Investment Funds team in Dublin, on a flexible/part-time basis. This is an exciting new role in our award winning Tier 1 practice.
The main focus of the role will be on environmental, social and governance ("ESG") advisory work and the ideal candidate will have prior experience in this area. However, we are open to hearing from candidates who have worked in a broader knowledge/PSL role with a strong interest in the area of ESG.
This is an excellent opportunity to assist us to further develop our ESG advisory practice within our Asset Management and Investment Funds team to meet the demands of our clients and to contribute to our specialism in this expanding and fast-paced area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, flexible, experienced and growing team of leading lawyers. You will work closely with the partners, and the wider knowledge management team both in Dublin and globally, to further develop the firm's ESG practice. This role may appeal to candidates seeking a flexible and/or part-time working arrangement (minimum of 3 days per week).
In this role, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities including:
• supporting the partners with business development initiatives (both desk-top and external) in relation to marketing our team's ESG specialism and Walkers ESG service offering;
• providing legal and regulatory analysis and research to support our team to advise our clients, including large global asset managers and investment firms, on the implications of the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regulation ("SFDR"), Taxonomy Regulation, sustainability related amendments to the AIFMD, UCITS and MIFID II frameworks and other sustainability reporting and regulatory initiatives in the EU's sustainable finance framework;
• assisting with updates to fund and related documentation in relation to the amendments introduced by SFDR, the Taxonomy Regulation and respective Level II delegated measures;
• advising on European and industry wide initiatives for our clients in relation to climate and environmental risks;
• involvement in our global ESG working group;
• supporting the partners related to the further development and delivery of training on ESG related matters for our clients, stakeholders and our team/firm;
• managing assigned matters and liaising with other team members and colleagues primarily within the Irish office and globally as needed to develop the Walkers ESG service offering;
• creating and maintaining relationships with client and industry contacts;
• creating and maintaining a detailed ESG legal/regulatory developments tracker and assisting with legal and regulatory development project management; and
• co-authoring client advisories and linked-in updates and building your and the Walkers ESG offering industry profile through this;
• assisting with more general knowledge management work as required, which will be scheduled to suit your working hours.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
We are open to hearing from those with previous experience ESG/sustainability experience or a strong interest in further developing their career in this area.
We are open to considering candidates interested in a move from in-house or industry into a law firm or those interested in returning or relocating to Ireland.
We are also interested in speaking to candidates who are interested in combining more general Asset Management and Investment Funds knowledge management work with ESG knowledge management work, if that is your preference.
