Overview of role
The Director Corporate Services, Market Expansion is a critical leadership role within Walkers Corporate Services (WCS) and the wider Walkers Professional Services (WPS) team. This role is responsible for driving market expansion and growth initiatives, working closely with other departments and the Walkers law firm. The Director will oversee business development, marketing, and client relationship building, while also fostering a growth culture within the team. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing growth strategies, managing client onboarding, overseeing the business development team, and tracking key performance indicators. This position requires a minimum of ten years of experience in a related role within a fiduciary services, accounting, or law firm, along with a strong understanding of the Cayman Islands legal market and excellent leadership and communication skills.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Oversee and supervise ongoing market expansion and growth initiatives within WCS and WPS.
- Collaborate with WPS departments and the Walkers law firm to identify and assess potential new service lines based on client needs, competitor analysis, and industry best practices.
- Develop and execute business development and marketing strategies, including client relationship building, to drive collaborative growth.
- Manage and attend industry conferences.
- Cultivate a growth-oriented culture within the WCS and WPS teams.
- Coordinate and manage all new business inquiries.
- Design and implement a framework to capture, monetize, and develop a structured external referral network for WPS.
- Enhance and manage the client onboarding process, focusing on efficiency and increased uptake of additional WPS service lines.
- Negotiate terms of engagement with clients in collaboration with in-house legal counsel.
- Manage and contribute to ad-hoc projects and initiatives, including service line and jurisdictional growth opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of a platinum client relationship management program.
- Collaborate with Directors and service line leads across the business to promote client centricity, innovation, simplification, and future-focused talent development.
- Design and implement a robust feedback mechanism from all client interactions to provide comprehensive oversight of marketing and growth activities.
- Lead, mentor, and set performance goals for the business development team/CRM program.
- Track key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of business strategies and present performance reports to senior management.
- Manage the business development budget to ensure adequate resources for initiatives and objectives.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Relevant degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business.
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in related roles within a fiduciary services, accounting, or law firm.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in similar Director or Head of level roles, including team management experience.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to lead and promote a high-performance culture.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver growth strategies and objectives.
- Knowledge of Cayman Islands laws and regulations, and experience with the US legal market.
- Deep understanding of typical structures and transactions involving Cayman Islands and other offshore SPVs and structured products.
- Established network within the industry.
- Proven marketing and sales skills, with a track record of converting sales efforts.
- Experience working in a commission-based environment.
