Overview of role

Walkers invites applications from suitably qualified Caymanians or Residency with Employment Rights Certificate holders for the position of Executive Legal Secretary.

We are seeking an experienced secretary and a self-starter who has the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. The successful applicant must have the ability to assess and prioritise workloads to ensure a high level of client service can be delivered by the lawyer(s) they are supporting.  They must be someone who thrives on challenges, is professional, team oriented, highly organised, detail oriented and have the ability to operate with the strictest of confidentiality.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

The successful applicant must be experienced in the preparation of standard as well as complex legal documents, corresponding with government agencies, authorities and clients, handling billings and collections management, assisting with a variety of complex legal administration transactions, database management, matter management, and client service management. Specifically, they must be able to:

 

  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of all stages in the lifecycle of entities (practice area specific)
  • Understand and manage filings, fees and deadlines associated with matters
  • Draft standard administrative documents and complete first drafts of legal documents which may include formations, resolutions, affidavits, opinions and notices
  • Research, understand and remain knowledgeable with current Acts and Authorities;
  • Be able to conduct matter related searches and reports which includes conflicts, Court and CORIS
  • Make accurate CIMA filings and Registry filings
  • Produce accurate and timely billings
  • Assist lawyers with managing their practices

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ legal administration experience and/or a recognised legal secretarial qualification from a recognised university or college and/or or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Copy and audio typing speeds of at least 60 - 70 wpm with an accuracy of 98%
  • Ability to manage a complex and demanding workload and prioritise tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets

Compensation Data
