Walkers invites applications from suitably qualified Caymanians or Residency with Employment Rights Certificate holders for the position of Executive Legal Secretary.

We are seeking an experienced secretary and a self-starter who has the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. The successful applicant must have the ability to assess and prioritise workloads to ensure a high level of client service can be delivered by the lawyer(s) they are supporting. They must be someone who thrives on challenges, is professional, team oriented, highly organised, detail oriented and have the ability to operate with the strictest of confidentiality.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Assist in the preparation of standard and complex legal documents i.e. drafting incorporation and formation documents in respect of Cayman Companies, Cayman Partnerships and Cayman LLCs. Registering foreign partnerships and foreign LLCs in the Cayman Islands
- To make all necessary filings with all internal and external bodies e.g. filing Cayman Islands Monetary Authority
- Organise documents for fund entities to be uploaded for registration through the Government Portal, REEFS
- Assist in the termination of funds when they reach the end of life to include the drafting of relevant documents, ensuring all fees are settled with the client, notices filed and published with Cayman eGazette and liaising with Government bodies in order to have them fully dissolved and removed from the Cayman Islands General Registry
- Liaising with the Registered Office in respect of Entity filings, dealing with service requests i.e. obtaining Certificates of Good Standing and ensuring all relevant documents are sent for adding to the minute book
- Prepare invoices, to include drafting bill narratives, implementing any special billing rules relevant to the individual clients, sending out invoices an carrying out chasers where required
- Creating, editing, amending and storing of correspondence and documents in the appropriate electronic matter file, including the preparation of "blacklined" documents
- To carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose of the job, including the performance of duties outside normal working hours

Education, Skills & Experience
- A recognised legal secretarial qualification from a recognised university or college and/or minimum of 3 - 5 years’ legal experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Copy and audio typing speeds of at least 60 - 70 wpm with an accuracy of 98%
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to use legal precedents and billing systems
- Work independently and as a team member
- Tact and diplomacy to deal with confidential matters
- Manage a complex and demanding workload and prioritise tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels of understanding. This will include high quality correspondence
- Participate in continuously improving services through critically evaluating systems of work, promoting new ideas and actively developing service improvements
- Work in a flexible manner and respond to changing circumstances and emergency situations
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work overtime when requested.
Compensation Data
