Overview of role

The Finance Systems & Reporting Analyst is a stakeholder focused, data driven professional responsible for supporting front end financial applications and reporting tools, transforming financial and operational data into meaningful insights, and enabling efficient, high quality reporting across the firm.

 

This role combines user support, advanced reporting, and business analysis, and requires strong communication skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across all offices, practice groups, and business services teams.

 

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Produce management reports, dashboards, and KPIs for leadership.
  • Prepare components of quarterly and annual group financial statements and consolidations.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and key performance drivers.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting templates, packs, and consolidated reports.
  • Create and deliver recurring and ad hoc reports, including cross functional reporting outputs.
  • Recommend improvements to reporting processes and analytics frameworks.
  • Support forecasting activities through data preparation and analysis.
  • Provide first and second line support for finance systems, including Aderant Expert, BigHand/Iridium BI, Power BI, and SQL based tools.
  • Troubleshoot system and data issues, validate outputs, resolve anomalies, and document solutions.
  • Support integrations between Aderant, Intapp, Iridium BI, SQL databases, and HR systems.
  • Assist with system configurations, including rate tables, cost structures, charts of accounts, and reporting hierarchies.
  • Contribute to system upgrades, testing cycles, reconciliations, and data integrity checks.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities for automation and system or process improvement.
  • Develop automated workflows using SQL jobs, Aderant Task Flows, and Iridium BI automation.
  • Build data quality checks and exception handling routines.
  • Support data governance initiatives, metadata documentation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Partner with Finance Support, IT, the PMO, and other teams to resolve issues and enhance tools.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to end users on finance systems and reporting tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for external auditors.
  • Contribute to process mapping, user documentation, and project delivery activities.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and SSRS.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Aderant Expert and BigHand/Iridium BI.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Confidence working with large datasets and producing clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience in a professional services or multi office environment.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting cycles.
  • Ability to document processes, system configurations, and policies clearly and accurately.
