Overview of role
This role is the perfect entry point for professionals with varied HR experience who are seeking an opportunity to move their careers to the next level. The successful candidate will receive coaching, direction, development and exposure to complex HR matters while making a meaningful contribution to the people-focused culture of Walkers.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Conducts regular meetings with respective business units and practice groups to build and improve work relationships.
- Provides support to managers/practice group leaders to manage employee relations issues using Walkers policies, procedures and best practices, ideally resolving issues informally where possible.
- Works with the Head of HR/Senior HR Manager to resolve complex employee relations issues as needed.
- Supports the Head of HR with conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations in response to formal complaints.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Acts as an ambassador for the HR Business Partner model, actively driving up standards to highlight the benefits of the model for all staff and managers/practice group leaders.
- Partners with the managers and the central resourcing function in supporting recruitment activities for their business line in line with immigration requirements and HR best practice; this includes the production of cover letters and response letter to the Business Staffing Plan Board.
- Supports the review and implementation of talent management and development requirements and assists in driving any necessary interventions and actions.
- Reviews employment contracts for new hires, changes, promotions and transfers.
- Helps deploy the Walkers strategy on instilling a high-performance culture and designs career development and succession plans for key talents and key job positions with managers and practice group leaders.
- Designs Performance Development plans for staff who are not quite performing at level, or who are underperforming.
- Manages the annual performance cycle for the assigned practice group/department.
- Utilises data to provide insights that drive action with the business.
- Actively communicates with the Department(s) to ensure high level of engagement across all staff on people related matters.
- Provides input into the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures and their dissemination.
- Advises managers/practice group leaders and employees on general benefits and compensation-related matters, escalating matters where appropriate.
- Assists managers and practice group leaders with developing position descriptions and conducting job evaluations.
- Provides accurate and timely policy-based recommendations to employees, managers, and within the HR function.
- Promotes the use of HR systems policies and processes, challenging appropriately as necessary.
- Partners within the implementation of the strategic HR Plan, projects and initiatives at Walkers to positively add value to both our business and employees.
- Partners with key stakeholders to ensure that all HR projects and initiatives are appropriately communicated and implemented.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or professional HR certification preferred.
- 5+ years' experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume HR/Senior Administrative or Office Management role
- A keen interest in establishing a long-term career in human resources
- Curious, collaborative and committed to excellent.
- Excellent written and oral communication with a willingness to do presentations both internally and externally.
