Overview of role
The Head of Business Insights provides high-level strategic business development support and advice. This role facilitates the collection and analysis of multiple sources of data and evidence to inform the leadership in the company and improve decision-making and policy-making. The position ensures the delivery of high quality, impactful information and intelligence services that support the firm's business objectives, address client needs, and provide market insights.
The role requires an understanding of the strategic business drivers for the firm, working with other senior team members to identify market opportunities and to evaluate and quantify these opportunities.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Manages the Research & Business Insights Team which provides sophisticated business research and bespoke current awareness services.
- Conducting advanced research/analysis of both internal and external information to enable service line heads and management to identify business opportunities/threats and develop a plan of activity.
- Actively building market intelligence to assess client issues and offer solutions developing client relationship management initiatives.
- Supervising, training and developing members of the Research & Business Insights team and liaising with other offices to ensure consistency and coordination of business development activities.
- Ensuring that all the offices and teams across WPS receive timely in-depth research and analysis allowing WPS to identify opportunities and threats and improve the service to its clients.
- Engage in all relevant internal business development meetings and provide appropriate support, including market research, targeting activities and post-event reporting.
- Oversite of Data warehousing & technology integration.
Education, Skills & Experience
- A Bachelors or postgraduate qualification in in Marketing, Business or a related field are required.
- Proven leader with programmatic, technical, and interpersonal skills adept at managing multiple projects from inception to completion and delivering results on time and within budget.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a business research role, with at least 5 years' experience in the financial services industry and global legal market
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated track record of experience working with senior management.
- Highly organised and detail focused with strong analytical skills and a proven track-record in project management, including supervising staff, managing deadlines and coordinating with other departments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to gather and manipulate large amounts of data, then think creatively to generate innovative insights from analysis.
- Proven ability to plan projects and meet deadlines while working with multiple stakeholders within the organization all while keeping budgetary restraints in mind.
- Significant experience and a high proficiency in MS applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to build teams and their functional capacity to provide relevant information and actionable insights.
