Overview of role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Head of Marketing & Business Development to spearhead our go-to-market strategy for key practices across the Americas region, aligned with the firm's ambitious growth objectives. This pivotal role will significantly support our pre-eminent Cayman Investment Funds and Regulatory practices, contributing to one of the world's leading specialist investment funds teams.
Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, Business Development & Communications, the Head will collaborate closely with senior partners to develop and implement strategic business plans. You will lead the Marketing, Business Development, and Communications team, working collaboratively with other functions to ensure the delivery of exceptional client service.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Enhance and elevate the existing business planning process to drive increased growth across the assigned practice areas within our key markets.
- Optimisation of the M&BD budgets, steering the budget planning and business planning process across the practice areas to ensure that investments are effective in achieving the agreed strategy.
- Ensure the implementation of best practice business development processes.
- Identify key sources of business and revenue streams and create strategic programmes to foster and grow these key relationships.
- Identify new data points, generating key insights that assist with identifying and exploiting new market opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Act as a strategic partner to lawyers to drive account management efforts with key clients and support the cross-sell of relevant jurisdictions and service lines.
- Build deep relationships across the firm to manage cross-office and cross-selling initiatives.
- Contribute to the growth of the practices through data driven insights that lead to the identification of new opportunities to secure new profitable revenue streams.
- Advise and support Partners and Counsel on the implementation of their personal business plans.
- Provide coaching and training to fee earners to further support their business development efforts and initiatives.
- Represent Walkers on industry committees where appropriate.
- Oversee the implementation of a 360-degree integrated campaign to support a best in class go-to-market strategy of the practices.
- Maximizing the return on investment of key sponsorships by the practices.
- Ensure compliance with Walkers verbal and visual brand identity for all client and market deliverables.
Education, Skills & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business from a recognized international institution is essential.
- A minimum of twelve years of progressive success in business development within the professional services industry is required. Experience within legal services and relevant practices/products is highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the professional services industry and effective B2B business development strategies.
- Proven record of delivering marketing and business development campaigns in a B2B context.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and results within a partnership environment, including a proven track record of successfully engaging partners in strategy development.
- Proven experience in establishing and implementing growth strategies across multiple clients, resulting in increased business performance.
- Proven success as an experienced account manager with a strong track record of building valuable client relationships.
- Strong experience in successfully managing and developing a team of marketing and BD professionals.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand the needs and expectations of lawyers and clients, as well as how the marketing and business development function can facilitate and drive revenue generation and profile in the market.
- A confident, professional, and diplomatic manner is essential, coupled with the ability to act as a trusted advisor and advocate for the business. A hands-on approach to ensure the smooth delivery of service is also important.
