Overview of role
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Knowledge Management Paralegal to play a crucial role in supporting the development and maintenance of our legal resources. Reporting directly to our Senior Knowledge Lawyer(s), you will contribute to our mission by ensuring our legal professionals have access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge base. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and excellence of our firm's legal services across multiple jurisdictions.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Assist in the development and maintenance of legal and professional resources, including precedents, know-how (such as legislation consolidations), client-facing guides, practice notes, and knowledge dissemination strategies.
- Maintain familiarity with and utilize external resources like library materials, journal subscriptions, and online databases.
- Support the harmonization of legal resources across all our global offices.
- Assist in the review and dissemination of new and proposed legislation and regulatory updates.
- Contribute to the distribution of industry and case law updates.
- Conduct case law research across various jurisdictions, utilizing platforms like Lexis, Westlaw, and Vlex (knowledge of these platforms is advantageous).
- Provide support for Cayman court searches (familiarity with the Cayman court system is beneficial).
- Foster relationships with stakeholder practice groups and offices through various channels, including meetings, calls, and events.
- Collaborate with business services departments, such as marketing and business development, on projects like thought leadership pieces and directory submissions.
- Support the activities of Precedent and Know-How Committees, and the Global Opinion Committee.
- Assist the Learning and Development department with the development and delivery of training programs.
- Support Law Firm Steering Committee projects and other office, regional, or global initiatives.
- Support the implementation of the KM strategy.
- Support other projects or perform other related duties by request from the relevant partners or directors.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Minimum of five years of experience as an executive legal secretary or equivalent.
- Alternatively, paralegal experience and/or other legal education, postgraduate qualifications, and previous law firm experience are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of SharePoint, document management, and document automation software (advantageous).
- Familiarity with AI and previous AI use (advantageous).
- Excellent attention to detail and high technical ability, with a strong understanding of legal documentation (advantageous).
- Proactive approach to service improvement, with the ability to critically evaluate systems and propose new ideas.
- Proficiency in using various systems and software, with a willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
