Overview of role

As a Learning & Development Assistant at Walkers, you will play a crucial role in supporting our firm's commitment to professional development. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including event coordination, document management, and data analysis. Your strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our L&D programmes.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

Administrative Support:

• Scanning and filing documents within the L&D and TC workspace

• Monitoring shared inboxes and responding to inquiries

• Handling ad-hoc requests, such as cheque collections and internal deliveries

• Preparing invoice payments for external vendors and internal L&D

• Scheduling and coordinating logistics for various L&D programs, including room bookings, AV equipment, supplies and catering

Programme Coordination:

• Assisting with the coordination of business internship and work experience programmes, community training partnerships, and scheduled training sessions

• Supporting Legal Training Programme initiatives, including articles of clerkship, sponsored students and the legal internship programme

• Assisting with school partnerships, including event set-ups, payment requests, ticket distributions, and school visits

Recruitment Support:

• Tracking competitor recruitment data

• Scheduling interviews and meetings for legal recruitment campaigns and business internships

• Assisting with onboarding of work experience students, interns and articled clerks, including following up with candidates, completing background checks and preparing documentation for internal records and for filings with the Court.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a professional, financial, or legal services industry
  • Strong academic background
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively
