Overview of role

Join our dynamic team as a Legal Advisor and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our offshore legal practice. As a key member of our expert team, you will research, identify, and assess all legislative and regulatory changes affecting our firm's internal governance and client services. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring our firm's continued compliance with the highest industry standards.

 

 

 

 

 

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Research, identify, and assess all legislative and regulatory changes related to the internal governance of Walkers Professional Services ("WPS") and client services provided by WPS globally.
  • Communicate and report on such legislative and regulatory changes to key senior stakeholders within WPS.
  • Provide essential support to the WPS Internal Monitoring Team to ensure compliance with global policies and processes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of legal and professional resources for WPS globally.
  • Support the alignment of legal resources across WPS globally.
  • Support the review and appropriate dissemination of new and proposed legislation, regulatory updates, industry news, and case law to WPS.
  • Train new WPS employees on the availability of legal resources.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with stakeholder groups and offices through various channels, including face-to-face meetings, regular group calls, attending WPS meetings, social events, and incentive-driven projects.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with other business services departments, such as preparing first drafts of thought leadership pieces with the marketing, business development, and communications teams.
  • Support the activities of working groups and committees as requested.
  • Support the Director of Legal and relevant WPS departments in the development and delivery of training.
  • Support other projects or perform other related duties as requested by relevant directors.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 1-3 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE). Applications from Senior Paralegals are also welcomed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Knowledge of document management and automation software is an advantage.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and strong technical abilities.
  • Actively contribute to service improvement by critically evaluating work systems, promoting new ideas, and developing innovative solutions.
  • Be comfortable using a variety of systems and software packages and be quick to learn new technologies.
  • Work independently using their own initiative and effectively collaborate as a team member.
  • Manage a varied workload and prioritize tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets.
  • Be adaptable and responsive to changing circumstances and emergency situations.
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

 

Walkers offers a dynamic working environment with opportunities for career progression and an excellent remuneration package, including a discretionary performance-based bonus, pension and fully covered health insurance for employees and 5 weeks' vacation. Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience with a salary up to US$125,000.
