Overview of role
The Marketing & Business Development Manager plays a critical role in driving revenue growth across the Americas by supporting client acquisition, client retention, and long term competitive positioning. This role partners closely with firm leadership, practice groups, and service lines to design and execute targeted business development strategies aligned with the firm’s strategic objectives.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Develop a strong understanding of assigned practices, partners, products, and offices to design and execute targeted business development plans aligned with firm and regional priorities.
- Conduct market, client, and competitor research to identify growth opportunities, industry trends, and strategic positioning, delivering actionable insights to partners and leadership.
- Partner with firm leadership to build and execute annual business development plans, tracking progress against KPIs, budgets, and revenue goals.
- Create and manage tailored business development plans for senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with firmwide visibility, client development, and revenue objectives.
- Lead client centric initiatives including targeted lead generation campaigns and cross selling efforts by identifying practice synergies and client overlaps.
- Oversee the development and optimization of pitch materials, RFP responses, pricing proposals, and bid strategies, providing strategic coaching on high value opportunities.
- Manage complex pursuits from qualification through submission, ensuring disciplined processes, strong positioning, and effective partner engagement.
- Lead pre and post event planning for client trips, conferences, and marketing events, including ROI analysis and reporting.
- Own internal business development initiatives by defining project roadmaps, timelines, KPIs, and conducting ongoing ROI and performance evaluation.
- Mentor and develop junior team members while partnering with cross functional teams (events, campaigns, marketing technolog, communications) to deliver integrated marketing and BD initiaties that meet client and firm objectives.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or Law (required)
- 5–7+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or consulting roles, ideally within professional services or the legal sector
- Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or team lead capacity, with responsibility for people or project leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated experience with CRM platforms (e.g., InterAction), including list segmentation, pipeline tracking, and activity reporting
- Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for collaboration and document management
- Ability to build and interpret dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI
- Familiarity with AI enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar) to enhance research, analysis, and content development
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required
- Willingness to travel as needed
