Overview of role

We seek suitably qualified Paralegals, preferably Caymanians or Residents with Employment Rights holders, who are talented and highly motivated to join our dynamic Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team, in the Cayman Islands. Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • To prepare first drafts of documents including pleadings, affidavits, appeals, contracts, corporate approvals, legal opinions, and closing papers and bundles, for review and approval by the relevant Walkers attorney.
  • Prepare revised and final drafts of legal documents, accepting or rejecting comments from other parties as appropriate or as directed by attorneys.
  • To conduct legal research in accordance with the instructions of the relevant lawyer, including analysing various law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, legal codes and laws and preparing research memorandum
  • Able to execute all necessary filings with all internal and external bodies.
  • Assist, as requested with the preparation, stamping and filing of legal documents in connection with probate applications, including court filings.
  • Coordinate cheque requests from the Firm's accounts department for client matters.
  • Support lawyers in preparing retainer invoices and managing monthly billing processes.
  • Able to maintain accurate and comprehensive records and correspondence files in relation to client matters.
  • Liaise with clients as appropriate and as instructed by attorneys, ensuring professional and timely communication
  • Manage and monitor "to-do" lists for high volume clients ensuring timely communication and task completion.
  • To maintain personal knowledge and expertise on the legislative and specialist aspects relevant to the job.
  • Undertake special projects and administrative tasks as related to client work at the direction of Walkers attorneys.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the role's purpose, including the occasional performance of duties outside normal working hours when necessary.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree or recognised paralegal qualification e.g. CILEX
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative or legal support role within legal, financial or professional services.
  • Experience or familiarity with legal or corporate documents is required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbally), with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues at all levels of understanding.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and professional approach to all tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Participate in continuously improving services through critically evaluating systems of work, promoting new ideas and actively developing service improvements
