Overview of role
Reporting to the Billing Manager, the Revenue Controller plays a key role in supporting the firm’s financial performance. This position is responsible for the effective management of receivables, including debt recovery, the resolution of billing queries, and close liaison with legal teams and clients. The role requires strong attention to detail, confidence in stakeholder engagement, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Liaise closely with legal teams to support the timely recovery of outstanding receivables.
- Contact clients to follow up on overdue payments in a professional and effective manner.
- Reconcile internal reports with e-billing platforms and work collaboratively with the e-billing team to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Resolve billing and account queries, both internally and externally, relating to overdue invoices.
- Provide general financial and administrative support, including ongoing reconciliations and ad hoc projects.
- Participate in new initiatives aimed at streamlining and improving global processes.
- Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries from lawyers and secretaries across all practice groups.
Education, Skills & Experience
- High School diploma and/or associate's degree, with a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience.
- Experience within the financial or legal services sector is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to interact confidently with legal professionals, demonstrating a proactive mindset, adaptability, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Calm and confident approach, with the ability to manage potentially difficult conversations professionally.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Knowledge of Aderant Expert is advantageous.
