Overview of role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to lead and develop the Americas Business Acceptance team, covering Cayman, BVI, and Bermuda. The Senior Business Acceptance Manager will be responsible for the effective delivery of new business intake and related compliance processes across the region.

 

The role sits within the Compliance team and requires strong people leadership, sound technical expertise, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with partners and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will champion a proactive, risk based compliance culture and help embed best practice across the firm

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Lead and manage the Americas Business Acceptance team, overseeing day to day operations, workflow allocation, and service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain a regional “hub” model to support efficient and consistent business acceptance across the Americas.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop team members, setting objectives, providing feedback, and identifying training needs.
  • Ensure timely and effective handling of new business intake requests, compliance queries, and escalations.
  • Provide practical advice to partners and business teams on AML/CTF, CDD, sanctions, and related regulatory obligations.
  • Support the embedding of compliance policies, procedures, training, and guidance in collaboration with the Head of Business Acceptance and senior regional managers.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities, including file reviews and the implementation of a consistent QA framework for the Americas.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies, including enhancements to Intapp and business acceptance policies and procedures.
  • Support regulatory inspections and submissions and manage jurisdiction specific compliance issues and projects.
  • Contribute to regional and global business acceptance initiatives, working closely with senior counterparts in other regions to promote a consistent and proactive compliance culture.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Graduate with a minimum of six years’ experience in an international compliance role, with a strong focus on AML and financial crime within a law firm environment.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively within the complex regulatory, commercial, and risk landscape of an international law firm, managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations throughout the business acceptance process.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying a risk based approach to compliance, including sound knowledge of conflicts of interest, sanctions regimes, PEPs, and other high risk categories, as well as offshore structures, particularly in a funds context.
  • Extensive people management experience, including leading cross regional teams on projects and managing recruitment, performance, and professional development initiatives.
