Overview of role

The Technology Trainer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive IT training to end users, ensuring they utilise the Walkers suite of technologies efficiently and effectively in alignment with business objectives. The Technology Trainer will collaborate with global stakeholders to identify, develop (or source) and effectively implement learning strategies and interventions.  The Technology Trainer will use a variety of instructional delivery methods to inspire learners and enhance productivity, empowering employees to work smarter by fully leveraging processes, tools and technologies.

 

 

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Working with IT and other subject matter experts to capture course-specific knowledge.  Liaising with IT, digital change teams, business services and identified Product Owners to ensure a roadmap of training is understood and ready when the changes are ready to be deployed.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders on conducting training needs analyses to identify capability gaps and interventions, as needed.
  • Designing and developing concise, creative and effective instruction. Learning assets may include documents, storyboards, instructor and participant materials, and supporting material / media (such as job aids, simulations, games etc.).
  • Delivering or facilitating courses and programmes, using suitable approaches including eLearning, virtual/online training, webinars, classroom-based sessions, floor walking, deskside support, 1:1 training or the use of vendors when necessary.
  • Continuously improving and updating learning assets, reviewing these on an ongoing basis to ensure offerings and approaches complement the evolving business.
  • Maintain records of learner development and devise assessment methods to evaluate training effectiveness through evaluations, surveys, and performance metrics. Use these insights to drive performance improvement

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Alternatively, a recognized formal training qualification.
  • Minimum of four years' experience in a major corporate training environment working on instructional design assignments across multiple teams and functions with a strong understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Excellent design skills, with experience developing a wide range of content. Experience with Articulate 360, Adobe creative suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects a plus.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts.
  • Proficiency using a range of eLearning authoring tools and knowledge of eLearning content development standards (eg SCORM, HTML5).
  • LMS administration experience including creating and maintaining role-based learning pathways would be advantageous.
  • Proven project management experience and the ability to prioritise, manage and complete multiple projects with tight deadlines.
