The Role
Based in Bermuda, the Head of Walkers Professional Services, Bermuda ("MD/Head") is responsible for planning, directing and leading all aspects of WPS' Bermuda's service offering spanning corporate services, fiduciary services and AML Officer and related services. The Head will work with the Board of Directors, ("the Board") and the WPS Senior Management Team ("SMT") to implement the ongoing strategies and vision for WPS Bermuda. The Head will also be required to play a significant role in developing the business, securing new mandates and developing relationships with asset managers and other industry participants.
The Head is tasked with meeting the defined objectives of WPS, including development and management of the budget, KPIs and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations. The Head shall develop and implement a business development strategy in conjunction with the Board and the SMT and work with the SMT to design, implement and optimize internal processes and workflows within WPS Bermuda. The Head will maintain close contacts with key clients and will work closely with and be supported by a team of specialist attorneys from the law firm, and will act as key intermediary between WPS Bermuda globally and the law firm.
THE RESPONSIBLITIES
- Work with the Board and SMT to create a commercial strategy, agreed annual objectives and forecasts, budgets, business plans and quarterly KPIs.
- Monitor and report regularly on progress against business objectives, plans and KPIs
- Maintain close working relationships with all key stakeholders including the Board and the WPS SMT, clients and key support functions across Walkers.
- Lead teams of professionals across the corporate, fiduciary and AML Officer service lines
- Manage the day to day operations of the WPS Bermuda office, including attracting and retaining talent, staff engagement, performance management, training and development, reporting, risk and compliance
- Develop and enhance a high performance culture across the team
- Manage a number of key clients and third party relationships and pro-actively develop and win new relationships
- Act as the senior escalation point for all client related matters within WPS Bermuda
- In conjunction with the Board and the SMT work with the Marketing and Business Development departments to devise appropriate initiatives to grow WPS brand awareness and promote services
- Key escalation point for Compliance matters including enforcing business acceptance parameters and ongoing review of existing business as escalated by the WPS Compliance team Monitor and keep abreast of relevant legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring that any changes are formalised into a project plan to effectively implement policy / system changes
- Act as key intermediary between Walkers law firm and WPS Bermuda
- Assist the Board and SMT with WPS Bermuda's responses to any regulatory inspections or audits and acting as the main point of contact between WPS Bermuda, the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Registry and the Tax Authority
- Work closely with the SMT and WPS Finance with regards to the management and execution of the invoicing and credit control process
The Candidate
- Senior leadership experience at Managing Director, Head or Director level
- A proven track record of success with a minimum 10 years' relevant experience in a similar role implementing change and developing a high performance culture
- Understands the intricacies of financial, business and people management
- Knowledge of Bermuda laws and regulations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and determine impact of decisions on the ultimate performance of a regulated professional services business
- Strong inter-personal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Strong organisational, analytical and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail
- Solid track record of delivering business development initiatives and business growth
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attitude to risk that is commensurate with WPS policies
- Energy, enthusiasm and a proactive and solution-driven attitude
