Overview of role
The Partner, Private Capital and Trusts will be responsible for defining and driving the strategic direction of the practice. The role holds full accountability for its growth, market positioning, and long-term success, ensuring alignment with the firm’s wider strategic objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and shape the strategic direction of the Private Capital and Trusts practice, taking full ownership for its growth, positioning, and long-term success within the Firm.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering expert, commercially focused, and technically robust advice while ensuring a highly responsive, relationship-driven service experience.
- Originate, build, and deepen key client relationships, positioning the Firm as a preferred advisor and expanding the client base in line with strategic priorities.
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams, including mentoring, supervising, and retaining attorneys while fostering future leaders within the practice.
- Drive collaboration across the Firm, working with other Partners and practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions and maximise cross-selling opportunities.
- Act as a visible leader within the Firm and the market, strengthening the practice’s reputation and contributing to the overall strategic growth of the Firm.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
- Bermuda and/or qualified commonwealth lawyer with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualifying financial regulatory experience at an international or Bermuda law firm.
- Able to provide sound advice on a wide range of private capital/private client matters with experience working for an established private client practice or family office preferred
- Able to provide sound advice with respect to corporate transactions involving the deployment of private capital including experience with the corporate/finance aspects of private capital work preferred
- Able to provide sound advice with respect to the formation of family office and other business structures in Bermuda, the relocation of individuals and businesses to Bermuda, and local regulatory/licensing requirements preferred
- Must be able to provide clients with innovative solutions to all manner of legal requirements to meet each client's needs both regulatory and commercial
- Excellent academics with top level international experience.
- Ambitious and commercially driven.
- Solid legal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment, a team player, willing to support others regardless of personal role or task and to help others in identifying needs and crafting development plans.
- Ability to use legal precedents and timekeeping and billing systems.
- Ability and motivation to support efforts to attract new clients and develop new initiatives.
