Overview of role
Walkers (Bermuda) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above position.
Reporting to the Head of the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Department, the Senior Associate will advise on all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution with particular emphasis on contentious insolvency, creditor and shareholder remedies, general commercial litigation and contentious trust litigation.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification
• Work within the IDR team in the Bermuda office advising on a wide range of cross-border contentious insolvency, corporate and general commercial litigation, trust and regulatory related disputes.
• Operate as a technical resource to clients providing sound expert opinion and highly responsive service to international clientele.
• Help develop existing client relationships and assist with business development.
• Support colleagues and partners on operational matters of significance to the Firm.
• Leverage professional and personal global network to grow the Firm’s resources.
• Maintain revenue and profitability targets and provide recommendations for optimizing growth.
• Participate in the development of the practice’s know-how, share knowledge, and participate in conferences, seminars and internal training.
• Provide technically sound advice and highly responsive service to clients.
• Independently and/or as part of a broader team, conduct complex, high value litigation in the Supreme of Bermuda, Court of Appeal for Bermuda and in arbitration as client needs dictate.
Education, Skills & Experience
• Excellent academics and top level experience.
• Minimum of 5 years qualified Bermuda and/or commonwealth lawyer.
• Ability to independently conduct cases effectively is essential, with a proven track record of successful litigation outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to create and execute business development initiatives.
• Strong leadership and management experience, including delegating work and overseeing junior attorneys
