Overview of role

Office: London (hybrid 50%)

Duration: 9months FTC

 

Due to our Senior Manager, DEI going on maternity leave, Walkers is looking to hire a nine-month FTC, HR Executive with a focus on diversity equity & inclusion (DEI).  This role will join their London based international HR team and will work closely with the CHRO, the Global and local DEI committees, the HR team and wider business to support the further development of our diversity equity & inclusion programme into the firm's day-to-day operations including hiring, training, and retention as well as a focus on mental health and wellbeing.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

Continual implementation of our Global DEI strategy and supporting our network

  • Support the implementation of our global DEI strategy.
  • Work with the co-chairs of the global DEI committee to ensure meetings are organised, agendas are circulated, minutes taken and action points taken forward.
  • Work with the chair of the Women of Walkers (WOW) committee to ensure meetings are organised.
  • Be the point of contact between the global DEI committee and our local DEI committees.

Communication

  • Increase communication throughout the firm on DEI initiatives including overseeing the production of newsletters, virtual notice boards and use of the intranet to keep people up to date with diversity initiatives, policies, and practices.  
  • Work with the BD community to ensure coverage in social media, publicity for events and external website content is accurate and relevant.

 

Data and key information

  • Work with our People Central team to maintain and update data and statistics of our headcount data including current diversity metrics.  Focus on the more granular detail, in order that we can regularly audit, review, and evaluate our progress going forward.
  • Help benchmark our metrics with other relevant external organisations.
  • maintain our "DE I client sheet" to communicate our key messages for clients, to be used in pitches and client meetings.    
  • Provide regular updates to the DEI global committee on agreed metrics and progress.      

Programmes, event support and training

  • Support sponsorship and mentorship programmes as well as Health and Wellbeing initiatives.
  • Run appropriate events in support of general DEI initiatives including client events when appropriate.
  • Run, and/or support the engagement of external vendors for various training initiatives.

Education, Skills & Experience

The role will suit someone who has a real passion for diversity equity and inclusion and will act as an ambassador for the firm at all times.  Ideally, you will have had at least three years of experience of diversity and inclusion, either within a DEI role or wider HR and a track record of implementing initiatives which have contributed to achieving business objectives. 

In addition, the successful candidate must have:

  • The ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • The ability to work autonomously and get into the detail.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple detailed projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form close working relationships with colleagues and clients and to work successfully in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and competence with web data, spreadsheets and business applications is critical.
