Overview of role

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for defining, executing and maintaining WPS' global procurement strategy.

 

The role will be responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities, managing vendor relationships, and implementing best-in-class procurement policies and systems. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services, driving cost optimisation, mitigating supply chain risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, while enabling digital transformation and supporting strategic business objectives.

 

The role will be expected to get up to speed quickly and manage the commercial lifecycle of all vendor relationships ensuring that due diligence on parties that WPS engages with for goods and services is conducted in a thorough yet expeditious manner.

 

The role will report to the Director of Legal but will also be working very closely with other senior leads from WPS' global business support functions to ensure that all new and existing third-party engagements and purchases by WPS meet the over-arching business strategy.

 

The role will require a review of existing contracts, pricing and agreements in place and an exercise of reviewing, benchmarking, negotiating and where necessary co-terming agreements. This will include storing and managing related documents, relationship history along with tracking on-going discussions and regular supplier check-ins.

 

The role will also work alongside senior business support representatives to design a robust, repeatable RFI and RFP process and be responsible for ensuring that the relevant NDAs are in place prior to any new engagement.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Own the procurement process for WPS and ensure that all governance and diligence is applied when reviewing or on-boarding suppliers.
  • Refine and streamline the supplier engagement and on-boarding process.
  • Create a renewal roadmap allowing WPS to adequately plan renegotiations, renewals and recommend when appropriate for RFPs.
  • Work with supplier relationship owners to provide support and guidance in on-going supplier management.
  • Liaise with the business support teams to ensure new suppliers are thoroughly checked before on-boarding takes place.
  • Own and drive the RFI and RFP process including creating templates.
  • Carry out regular pricing reviews and contribute to the annual budgeting process.
  • Review proposals and Statements of Work to ensure they meet the expectations of WPS.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • MCIPS or equivalent professional designation preferred.
  • Relevant experience of working in a centralised procurement role, preferably with a global reach and within financial services.
  • Experience in negotiating and co-terming complex contracts.
  • A methodical, thorough attention to detail with a nous for identifying mistakes in supplier pricing proposals.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret complex data for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and digital tools.
