The UX Designer contract role will be a new role within the Global Engineering Team as part of the firm's global IT Department. The UX Designer is to be responsible for helping formulate the design and create the look and feel of the firms new Client Portal capabilities. Walkers has several aging 'Portal' solutions focussed on both internal and client use, and these are to be re-platformed to more performant, streamlined and modern technology cloud-based solution. The role holder will be expected to work with the relevant business stakeholders such as Marketing and other assigned line of business representatives in conjunction with Architects and Developers to create a consistent user experience and a library of templates. These will be expected to build on the work that was done last year in re-platforming the WalkersGlobal.com website and the corporate digital standards brought in at the time. The role will be part of a team of forward-thinking Full Stack Developers and Power Platform Developers building out several solutions across the firm but will be focussed on the portal modernisation piece. The UX Designer role holder will be expected to understand the firm's governance model around technical deliveries including ownership of solution documentation and will also work with the assigned architects to create designs and see them through the architectural review board to seek feedback and approvals.
The UX Designer candidate must have a strong foundation in user experience design, coupled with hands-on front-end development skills. You will be responsible for creating intuitive, engaging, and effective user experiences while also guiding the implementation of designs through modern front-end technologies.
The candidate will champion the Walkers' standards and best practices for UX Design and software development and will be a subject matter expert in UX Design and Front-End Development. As well as working with other team members in the Global Engineering Team, the role holder will be expected to transfer knowledge to the other relevant colleagues spread across the globe. The UX Designer and Front End Developer role holder should be familiar with working with delivery pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps for continuous delivery in cloud-based deployments.
